The world's best web cam
In 1998 I had a log cabin in Sprague River, Oregon and ran a radio station for the fun of it. I also had a web page that I called "spragueriverweather.com" I went to great lengths and expense to put a web cam on my roof looking out over my front yard and across the meadow where I lived. It displayed pictures of my world which updated every 5 minutes. The picture on the page wasn't much bigger than what you see of me here on the left. It was about as good as our technology was back then, over ten years ago.
I just came across a site, Earth cam, where the world watches the world They feature som,e of the best web cams on the internet. Was I in for a surprise!

This site is in someone's back yard in Australia. It is a high definition camera with sound that allows us to hear the birds in the picture. If you click on the lower right of the picture it will display full-screen and is unbelievably clear. This is not a still picture, but a streaming video! I think this has to be the best there is, not only from a quality standpoint, but for it's content —interesting wild birds at their feeder.

China has numerous web cams that give us views we seldom see. Notice the old city in the foreground, with the "new world" which has sprung up behind.
Even Shanghai has a "Space needle" tower. What an eye-opener!
Keep in mind when you go through this huge list of cameras around the world, that some places may be dark while we have daylight. This camera is in Poland. This is live video that enables us to see the cars driving by. This was at midnight on a rainy night over there.
In Brazil, South America this page offers many street views. I was amazed to see solid lines of cars inching their way along crowded streets, and people walking with their shopping bags.
Here we can see the announcer sitting at his microphone in the German studio of WDR4 radio. In this shot I think we was on a break.
Here we see the village around the Hotel Edelweiss in the Alps. I'm not sure if we're seeing snow from last year, or new early snow for this fall season.
Thanks to the internet the world is truly now at our fingertips!
